Teaching Philosophy

Mastery at the piano (or any instrument) is so much more than learning to press the right keys at the right time.  Music is about expression, sharing and giving of human emotions. For this reason, all of my students are taught to be musicians as they learn to express music as a work of art.
It is my goal to provide students with a music education that is structured, enriching, and well rounded. Private lessons not only includes weekly songs but also theory, ear training, improvisation/composition activities, and sight reading. Through a variety of activities students are continually engaged, and excited to learn.

I am a firm believer in the benefits of musical study for all individuals, regardless of age and ability.  This is why my studio is open to people of all ages and abilities. There is something for everyone to learn! My students are not only learning an instrument, but lifelong skills, including; creativity, concentration, dedication, diligence, and perseverance.  Parents are encouraged to be actively supportive and involved in their student’s musical education.  My students find great satisfaction and enjoyment in studying the piano and this joy should be shared with their family and friends!
